#Warksmass – New social media campaign to shop local this Christmas

As the countdown to Christmas gets underway, Warwickshire County Council is supporting independent retailers and small businesses like you with a new social media campaign that will encourage residents to seek out services and products that are available locally.

The digital profile of a retailer is more important now than ever before and this is a time for retailers across our region to come together and support the development of other independents in their communities, and we hope that this campaign can create a positive culture of sharing for a mutual gain. It follows on from our successful #BuyEatLocal campaign which ran earlier this year.

On Friday 20 November we will be launching our A to Z of Christmas on our social media channels. This will highlight businesses, products and services beginning with the corresponding letter to create the perfect Christmas gift list from independent retailers across the region.

The aim of this campaign is to raise the digital profile of small businesses and independent retailers across all towns in Warwickshire and drive footfall when government restrictions are lifted and all shops and services can begin to reopen.
We will also highlight those businesses that still able to trade with click and collect services through the lockdown.

The posts will go out on the Warwickshire Towns Network Facebook and Twitter @WarksTN, as well as being shared across Warwickshire County Council’s other social media channels. Each will be using #Warksmas and tagging the town, the retailer or business is located in for example #Nuneaton, #Leamington or #Alcester.
And to make this campaign a success, we need your support!

We would encourage you and your fellow business to get involved to help us reach as many people as possible by liking and sharing posts as they appear, whether it’s to promote your own business or endorse others. We hope members of the public will also get involved by offering reviews and recommendations.

We understand that not all of our small retail businesses are geared up for e-commerce but many are offering click and collect, and we hope the campaign will encourage others to adopt social media an effective marketing tool.

So please do join the conversations on the #Warksmas hashtag, promote yourself, promote your neighbours and the County Council will help you to reach thousands of potential new customers.

Follow @WarksTN on Twitter or like Warwickshire Towns Network on Facebook for more updates and join the conversation from 20 November through to Tuesday 15 December. To find out more about the campaign visit www.warwickshire.gov.uk/buyeatlocal
